Overview

Esther Duflo is currently a professor of economics and Co-Director of MIT’s Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL). In 2008-2009 she has been the first person to hold the “Knowledge against Poverty” chair at the Collège de France – this chair is supported by Agence française de développement.

Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL)

The Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) was founded by the MIT in 2003. This laboratory has designed and implemented a randomized evaluation method for poverty reduction programs inspired by clinical trials used in medicine. Through its work J-PAL helps  governments, donors and companies improve their actions to support the poorest.
