Overview

Jean-Michel Severino is the President of Investisseurs & Partenaires, an impact investing group dedicated to SMEs of Sub-Saharan Africa. He is also a senior fellow at the Foundation for the Study and Research of International Development (FERDI) and a member of the French Academy of Technologies (Académie des technologies). He previously held the position of Director of Development at the Ministry of Cooperation (1994-1996), Vice-President for East Asia at the World Bank (1996-2000) and Chief Executive Officer of the French Development Agency (AFD) from 2001 to 2010. Jean-Michel is a member of several boards, including Ecobank International, Orange, Danone and Convergences, a think-tank on development and poverty alleviation work. He also served as a member of the UN General Secretary’s eminent persons’ panel on the post 2015 development agenda.

With €75m under management, I&P has invested in almost 60 small and medium-size companies across 15 countries. I&P brings long-term financing as well as strategic, managerial and technical support to its investees. I&P is the advisor of an impact team, managing a EUR 65 million fund dedicated to access to electricity in Africa. As an impact investor, I&P strives to maximise the economic, social and environmental impacts of its partners and aims to actively contribute to the African development.
